IKEA, the giant home improvement retailer, is delisting branded food from its Swedish food stores and replacing them with an expanded private label range. IKEA said the move to private label was driven by a desire to taken control of the supply chain. It will introduce 150 products to its stores including cheese, caviar spread, crisp bread, herring, bread and liquorice.
“The purpose is to be able to fully control the recipes, the quality, and make sure the code of conduct is respected. It is a way to take responsibility for people, animals and the environment, because this way we can trace the products more easily, IKEA said.
